The K Cup Coffee Maker (or in other words a Keurig coffee machine) enjoys immense popularity in the United States with over 200,000 office installations and a 6% share in all coffee that is brewed daily.
Perhaps the main reason they are so popular is because of the ease in which K Cups allow you to make a coffee. The grounds are contained within the cup for immediate insertion into the coffee machine and after about a minute or so the cup of coffee is ready for consumption.
If coffee or espresso is not your drink of choice, you can easily omit the K-Cup from the process altogether and use the hot water function to make a cup of tea or even a mug of soup if you prefer. Even if you didn’t like traditional coffee drinks though, it would be difficult not to find something you liked among the over 200 varieties of coffee, hot chocolate and tea that come in this format.
So how is this painless brewing process achieved? The cup is pierced both on the top by a spray nozzle and on the bottom by a discharge feature and then a specific amount of hot water is made to travel through the mixture. Eventually the hot water will end up in the mug or cup and your coffee will be almost done.
