As this is a 5-cup machine, you could realistically expect to get at least 2 or 3 large mugs worth from a single pot, which is ideal if 2 people like to drink their coffee in large quantities.
It uses a steel mesh reusable filter which is surprisingly good at keeping impurities out of your coffee and saves you from having to buy replacement paper filters which can be costly over time.

The are best suited to people who have very limited counter space and wish to free up room for other appliances. They are a little more expensive than the standard coffee makers (around $70-$80) and come in 8 and 12 cup capacities.
Black and Decker SDC850 space saver
These types of units may take a while to setup, given that every kitchen is different. You will have to do some research first to make sure that it will fit in the space available and that the cupboards will be able to support the weight.
The SDC850 has been notoriously difficult to install for some people – either the parts are seized together or the instructions are incomplete.
Unless you can get hold of a skilled handyman (or woman) and really need the extra space then I would steer clear of this particular Black and Decker coffee maker. The extra hassle just isn’t worth it in my opinion.
